The summer of 1977 belonged to Star Wars. It was all about Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and light sabers. Those were the only things that mattered unless you’re Mike Douglass interviewing Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford when Pete Rose and Tom Seaver showed up.
Tom Seaver going from the New York Mets to the Cincinnati Reds was a huge deal, and that plus the Hit King deserved two segments on Mike Douglass’ show, but it should’ve been the first two segments. You don’t make Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker hang out on the couch like some nobodies.. Well, you don’t do that to Han Solo.
