The New York Giants got the 2008 season underway by having Michael Strahan break out of a giant Lombardi trophy, and then beating the Washington Redskins 16-7. I wonder if the sound of the crowd cheering had Strahan reconsidering his retirement..
The Giants rode the emotion in the stadium to a quick lead over the Redskins, but they looked sloppy in the second half. The good news for the NY is that the defensive played well, the bad news is that the same defense led the league in sacks last season but only registered one in this game without Michael Strahan and Usi Umenyiora.
