Dikembe Mutombo signed with the Atlanta Hawks as a free agent in the summer of ’96. As Barkley said, “He’s a nice guy. Couldn’t score if you locked him in a phone booth all night by himself,” but he did help the Hawks go 56-26, finishing second to the Chicago Bulls in the Central division. Score one for MJ.
