LeBron James was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player on Monday, taking the honor over Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade. He held his acceptance speech at his alma mater, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, and delivered a speech that was part high school prom king, part grateful young man, part heartfelt, and part King James clowning with his court.
There was never any doubt about LeBron winning the MVP. He came back from Beijing, from being around Kobe, with a different mindset and dominated the league wire to wire. His jumper still needs work but he improved from the free throw line and he stepped up his defense. James wants to be the best player and there’s no reason not to believe that we’ll see him give a speech similar to this one three or four more times.

I am 65 years old and I am a fan of the Cleveland Cavalier. They are in my prayers daily. I pray for Lebron and his team mates because I admired their cohesiveness as a team. I deeply admired Lebron for the young man that he is and what he stands for. I pray for their longevity as a team. I would like nothing better to see them become the 2009 NBA winning team. So, I include that in my prayers also. I pray for their strength and God’s divine guidence that he will give them all the wisdom and knowledge on how to go about winning each and every game that is played. Need I say that I watch every game religiously and I will be praying for them. My motto also for them is “Yes You Can!!!”
