Reason #45983 that it’s good to be a celebrity: people care about your opinions on anything. In this video a reporter is talking to Akon about performing in front of a large crowd and the Christmas party he’s throwing with Lil Wayne. At 1:20 he decides to ask for Akon’s opinion on Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg.
At first Akon gives the standard “I have no idea” response and seems like he doesn’t wanna speak on the subject, but his inner advice giver kicks in and the semi-comedy ensues.
“When you make that kind of money you can have someone else hold the gun. Let them shoot themselves in the leg.”
See, Akon gets it. Plaxico should’ve paid Domenik Hixon to hold the .40. If Hixon would’ve shot himself in the leg it would’ve made the news, but it wouldn’t have been that big of a deal. And the Giants’ offense wouldn’t be MIA.
New York was averaging 30 points per game on the season, and 35 points in their last four games, before the Plaxidental shooting. They’ve scored 23, 14, and eight points in their last three games without Burress. If the trend continues the G-Men can expect to score 5 points this weekend against Carolina.
