UNC Tennis Player Drives Into Pedestrians, Charged With DWI

Chris Kearney, the 2007 ACC freshman tennis player of the year, has been charged with drunk driving, crashing into two female pedestrians, and fleeing the scene. The 20-year-old UNC tennis star reportedly veered off the road and then struck the two University of North Carolina students. The women are in stable condition, Chris Kearney’s in jail.

Kearney is being held in the Orange County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond and is charged with two counts of inflicting personal injury, one count of driving while impaired, two counts of possessing a fake ID, felony hit and run causing personal injury and consuming alcohol under the age of 21.

Police said that Kearney blew a .018 on a blood-alcohol test.

The victims, who are also UNC students, were transported to UNC’s North Carolina Memorial Hospital. Their names have not been released, but Police said that they are listed in stable condition, but with serious injuries.

This is gonna put Chris Kearney on the 7-10 year graduation plan. Looking on the bright side, Kearney will have plenty of time to study for his degree in business, and he’ll learn how to survive prison riots.
