Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga was one out away from throwing the third perfect game of the 2010 MLB season when umpire Jim Joyce decided to cockblock history. Joyce ruled the Cleveland Indians Jason Donald safe at first base for what would have been the 27th out. Replays showed Galarraga beat Donald to the bag. If ruled correctly Galarraga would’ve tossed the 21st perfect game in league history. Instead he becomes the poster boy for instant replay.

The MLB is talking about reversing the call. Obviously I feel like he was out; I think the video is pretty clear. However, how many other people have been knocked out of a perfect game because of a bad decision by the umpire? We don’t have instant replay to prove those wrong. I think Armando deserved a perfect game, but I wonder how many other people throughout history have deserved a perfect game but lost it.
