The Seattle Seahawks are wrapping up pitiful five or six win season in a perfectly dysfunctional way. Wide receiver TJ Houshmandzadeh and former NFL quarterback and Seahawks radio analyst Hugh Millen are trading words over the team’s lack of offense. TJ is obviously frustrated sitting on a losing team that’s making vacation plans as his old team gets ready for a playoff run. Hugh Millen is a convenient outlet for his anger.

HMZ’s mouth have contributed to his 2009 problems in more than one way. He boasted about teaming up with Matt Hasselbeck in a July Sporting News interview and made some very bold predictions. Via PFT:

“I just want to let everyone know that Matt Hasselbeck and I will be leading the Seahawks to the playoffs this season,” Houshmandzadeh proclaims. “And we’ll be going to the Pro Bowl as a tandem. We’re both going to have top five seasons: He’ll have a top five quarterback season, and I’ll have a top five receiving season. I’ll put up stats I’ve never had before yardswise because they’re allowing me to be a complete receiver.”

TJ has 76 catches for 845 yards and three touchdowns. Here’s the Pro Bowl list. Neither Houshmandzadeh or Hasselbeck made the team and the 5-10 Seahawks aren’t going to the playoffs.

Seattle has suffered through injuries but TJ and Hasselbeck weren’t gonna have Pro Bowl seasons. I’m not mad at TJ though. He had lofty goals and came up short. It’s not like he broke his word… Like he did when he challenged a Seahawks fan to a game of Madden. The same Madden TJ said he was gonna boycott because of a low rating.

I’d like to believe TJ when he says he stomped D-Train of Madden Challenge fame by scoring 67 points in a 3-minute quarter game but his credibility is a little shaky right now. As far as giving out his Macktown gamertag and then no-showing for the challenge, that’s weak.
