People can argue to no end about whether or not college athletes should be paid. Some people feel a scholarship is payment enough, others hate to see the universities prosper on the backs of the “student-athlete”. Either way, money or no money, some athletes are gonna do stupid shit… Like Alabama redshirt freshman, defensive lineman Jeremy Elder.
University of Alabama football player Jeremy Elder, arrested Sunday on two counts on first-degree robbery, allegedly presented a gun to two UA students in the incident that led to his arrest. Elder, a freshman from College Park, Ga., is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department jail on $120,000 bond.
Gotta give it to the southerners for their hospitality.. Jeremy Elder “presented” a gun to two students?!? Was he carrying the gun in a display case? Did he say “I’m Jeremy Elder, and this is my little friend.”? In real world talk, he’s accused of pulling a gun on two students and getting some cash from one of them.
Redshirt or not, a University of Alabama football player committing a crime on campus, and thinking he’ll get away with it is stupid.. Not as stupid as depositing meth into your bank account via the atm, but really stupid. Alabama football fans are crazy, and you know they memorize the name, face, and number of anybody to set foot on the grass at Bryant-Denny stadium.
