Serena Williams channeled John McEnroe on crack at the end of her U.S. Open semifinal match with Kim Clijsters and it cost her a trip the finals. Serena’s chances were already in bad shape because she dropped the first set 6-4 and was trailing 6-5, 15-30 in the second set. The line judge made the mistake of calling a foot fault after Serena had faulted on her first serve. Ms. Williams responded by offering to shove a tennis ball down the line judge’s throat. Wyclef Jean of Fugees fame has written a new anthem, Venus (I’m Ready), in honor of tennis star Venus Williams. The song will be used throughout Venus’ run at the U.S. Open.

Wyclef Jean and Venus Williams met during a taping of the Sundance Channel’s “Iconoclasts”, a show that pairs two famous people from different fields for a conversation about their crafts and lives. The show and the song have left Venus very impressed with Wyclef. Read the full story
