Depending on where you look for the statistic at least three percent and as high as 10 percent of the United States is gay.. As in they prefer members of the same sex. Sports is a microcosm of society so it’s safe to assume a small percentage of our favorite athletes also play for the other team.
MTV’s True Life is playing the odds in hopes of exploiting an athlete getting an athlete to come out of the closet to their team. And the world. Read the full story

By now everybody’s heard. ESPN denied the Steve Phillips banging a chick on the side story when Deadspin editor A.J. Daulerio called to inquire. Then the story turned out to be true so Daulerio called to ask ESPN about a few other rumors and by “called” I mean he posted them on Deadspin. Plaxico Burress is serving a two-year prison sentence because of the bad decision to bring a handgun to a nightclub. The only route he’s running now is the daily routine of life behind bars.
Being limited to visits from family and friends is gonna be tough on Burress, but he has the support of Harry Carson and other retired players while he’s in prison. Read the full story

Michael Vick has been suspended by the NFL indefinitely, and a timetable for him to return to the league is impossible to set. Even after Roger Goodell clears Vick to play there still has to be a team willing to sign Michael and the circus that comes with him. Read the full story

Michael Jackson, the greatest performer of our lifetime, died at the age of 50 in a Los Angeles hospital on Thursday. Before he became a pale-faced punchline the King of Pop was the biggest star on the planet. No Internet, no hype. Just dancing and hit after hit.
Nobody likes to admit it now (Like nobody admits to owning one of the millions of records MC Hammer sold) but there was a time when it was cool to be like Mike.
