Congratulations Yankees. You did it. You spent more money than the rest of the league, built a fancy new launching pad, and delivered the 27th championship in your franchise’s proud history. Pat yourselves on the back.
All jokes and disgust aside it’s great to see Jeter, Pettite, Posada, and Rivera pick up their fifth rings. Steroids blemish Andy’s career but those four guys are about as likable as guys on the other team can be.
The same can’t be said for Yankees fans. Even though they lost the Clash of the Cretins to Philadelphia these videos show New Yorkers in all their glory. Read the full story

The Yankees are trying to exercise their playoff demon that is the Angels, like LA did by beating the Red Sox in the LDS. Alex Rodriguez‘ bat is awake and he’s working towards shaking the “Playoff Choke” label. CC did what they brought him to NY to do in Game 1, and Jeter’s still the man. The Yankees have different guys stepping up at different times to carry them to pie-in-the-face team victories. Read the full story

Aroldis Chapman defected from Cuba in July while playing in a baseball tournament in the Netherlands. The 21-year-old was able to bypass the amateur draft and is now a free agent in Major League Baseball. And oh yeah, he throws 100 mph. Read the full story

Prince Fielder won the 2009 Home Run Derby, disappointing the people of St. Louis who were pulling for hometown hero Albert Pujols. While Fielder gets to celebrate with his theme song, Pujols has to settle for staring at his towel guy’s number five mohawk. Read the full story

Miami rapper Rick Ross or the “Bawse” as his fans call him, recently hit up a Dodgers game in Los Angeles after filming a rap video with California rap OG Mack 10. It was only fitting that Ross (born William Leonard Roberts II) visit the city that was home to Freeway Ricky Ross, the infamous drug kingpin behind his rap name. Read the full story

Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella is known as a straight-shooter so why would we expect him to do anything differently when discussing Geovany Soto’s positive drug test during the World Baseball Classic?
