Allen Iverson and the Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to give up on the A.I. coming off the bench experiment. The Grizzlies waived Iverson on Monday and he’ll be a free agent Wednesday if he clears waivers. Something tells me he will. Read the full story

The Memphis Grizzlies granted Allen Iverson permission to leave the team indefinitely to deal with a personal matter. Something urgent enough that Grizzlies owner Michael Eisley feels it shouldn’t be reported. Barbershop talk says A.I. wore out his welcome in Memphis. Eisley says he’ll be back but they need to work on his role. Read the full story

The Los Angeles Clippers have shipped Zach Randolph to the Memphis Grizzlies for Quentin Richardson in a move aimed at freeing up a starting spot for Blake Griffin. LA made the move for two reasons: The overall number one pick has to start, and Griffin will help put a few more butts in the seats. Read the full story

• Second overall pick in the 2003 draft Darko Milicic leaving the NBA for Europe in 2010
Detroit Pistons GM Joe Dumars helped build the team he played for into a perennial championship contender, but he’s made some mistakes along the way. The Allen Iverson trade still has time to work out but so far the numbers say they should’ve kept Chauncey Billups, cap space be damned. The biggest blemish on Joe D’s resume is selecting Darko Milicic over Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh in the 2003 NBA draft.
The Pistons cut their losses after three years with Darko and shipped him off to Orlando. Things didn’t work out in Florida for Milicic and now he plays for the Memphis Grizzlies… Well, he rides the bench for the Grizzlies. And apparently Darko’s getting tired of the splinters and wants to take his career averages of 5.5 points per game and four rebounds back to Europe. Read the full story
