When you think of Dennis Rodman you probably picture the tattooed rebounding machine that loved to party and self promote. He’s still pretty much the same. Denver’s 105-79 victory over Los Angeles Friday night exposed the unproductive Lakers’ bench (again) and gave the Nuggs a little (very little) bit of payback for being eliminated from the playoffs last season. The Nuggets’ 58-56 halftime lead blew up to 87-64 by the end of third quarter. J.R. Smith scored 20 to go with Carmelo Anthony’s 25 but the play of the night went to rookie point guard Ty Lawson for his dunk over a couple of Lakers. Read the full story

The Dallas Mavericks stomped the Los Angeles Lakers 94-80 at Staples Center Friday night in a game where the final score didn’t reflect what truly happpened. Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion, and Jason Kidd helped the Mavs turn a seven point halftime lead into a 22-point blowout in the second half. LA got the deficit below 20 but they never challenged Dallas.
It wasn’t all bad for the Lakers. Trailing 78-64 with 9:43 left in the fourth Kobe Bryant faded away behind the 3-point line with two defenders in his face. The shot bounced off the rim to the opposite side, giving Shannon Brown the chance to dunk on Josh Powell. Read the full story
