They say good news travels fast, but it’s the bad news that moves quickly. People can’t wait to pass along the latest “Did you hear about…?”. The worst part about that kind of gossip is when the information is wrong.
An example of bad news (in both senses) is Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reporting on the Pistons Blog that Allen Iverson had been banned from the MGM and Greektown casinos in downtown Detroit. It was on Detroit News.. Of course I bought it.. Read the full story

• Allen Iverson shorted a cab driver four dollars after gambling at a Minnesota casino
Allen Iverson of the Detroit Pistons and some of his boys (including Rasheed Wallace) had a great time at the Shakopee’s Canterbury Card Club a few days ago. Sheed didn’t gamble but Iverson reportedly had a tough night on the tables although he probably isn’t hurting considering he had a reported 50k on him. That’s why a story about him failing to pay the full $54 for a cab comes as a little bit of a shock. Read the full story

• Former NBA player Charles Barkley takes a shot at Michael Jordan
Charles Barkley is good for getting people to talk about him because of something he’s said. Right now there are people pissed off at Barkley for saying John McCain has to play the race card in order to win the election. I’m sure the Round Mound doesn’t care.
Charles Barkley was in North Carolina this past weekend and stopped by the East Carolina Pirates basketball practice where he spoke to and worked with the team. Charles also took questions from the crowd and answered honestly about Michael Jordan and gambling. Read the full story
