As soon as referee Kenny Bayless stopped Manny Pacquiao from beating Miguel Cotto senseless boxing fans started calling for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to take on the current pound-for-pound champion. A Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will reportedly bring in $40-$50 million for each fighter at the same time giving fight fans the classic match-up they’ve wanted. A potential sticking point in all Mayweather-Pacquiao talk is Floyd’s relationship with Top Rank top man Bob Arum. Mayweather previously said he’d never fight Pacquiao if Arum was involved but that changed late Thursday when Floyd’s team approached Top Rank about the super fight. Read the full story

The Washington Redskins are a disaster on and off the field. The team’s condition has brought Hall of Famers John Riggins and Joe Theisman to exchange words. Since they’re in ‘Wait ’til next year’ mode the Skins have nothing left to do but quit on their coach and start sideline brawls.
The quitting on the coach is already in progress from management and player standpoints. The sideline fighting went into effect after LaRon Landry late hit Falcons QB Matt Ryan out-of-bounds. Pushing and shoving followed with Ryan calmly pulling Landry away from the situation.. He should have grabbed DeAngelo Hall. The former Falcon got into with Atlanta head coach Mike Smith and then Albert Haynesworth mixed in for some reason. Read the full story

The last we heard from former USC basketball coach Tim Floyd he was resigning his position because of the “He paid for O.J. Mayo” scandal. Floyd is out of work but that didn’t stop him from breaking up a fight during a recent trip to a casino. Read the full story

Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. are going to get it on sometime in the first quarter of 2010. The rematch comes 16 years after Jones won an unanimous decision over Hopkins for the IBF Middleweight Championship. Read the full story

Calling Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount a poor loser doesn’t begin to describe how this guy acts after a loss. LeBron walking off the court after a loss and not shaking hands with Orlando doesn’t seem as bad when you see Blount punch a teammate, punch Byron Hout of Boise St., and make himself a household name for the wrong reasons.
