USC played a suspect game and escaped with a 14-9 victory over an Arizona State team that started a “not ready” freshman at quarterback in the second half. The Denver Broncos trailed the Cincinnati Bengals 7-6 with 28 seconds remaining in the game and the ball on their 13-yard line. Kyle Orton’s pass down the left sideline was tipped in the air by a Bengals defender, and into the hands of a waiting Brandon Stokley. Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox threw his second no-hitter, and first perfect game Thursday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field. The Sox knocked off the Tampa Bay Rays 5-0 behind Buehrle’s perfect arm, but the biggest play of the game was made by Sox outfielder DeWayne Wise. Manager Ozzie Guillen brought in Wise for defense to start the ninth inning and the decision paid off immediately when Wise robbed Gabe Kapler of a ninth inning, perfect game breaking home run. In Predator 2 there’s a line, “There’s no stopping what can’t be stopped. No killing what can’t be killed.”, and that sums up Arizona Cardinals‘ wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. With his team needing a big play Larry “The Predator” Fitzgerald stepped up and took a Kurt Warner pass 64 yards to the house to give his team a 23-20 lead.
