New Mexico guaranteed themselves a share of their second consecutive Mountain West Conference title and the top-seed in the MWC tournament with a 83-81 win over BYU at the Marriott Center Saturday in Provo. It was the Lobos 13th straight win so you’d think head coach Steve Alford would be in a good mood after the game. He wasn’t. Alford traded words with BYU forward Jonathan Tavernari highlighted by the coach saying “You’re an asshole.” Bobby Knight is somewhere nodding approvingly. The BYU Cougars upset no. 3 Oklahoma 14-13 in the first college football game played at the new Cowboys Stadium. Sooner QB Sam Bradford injured his right shoulder near the end of the first half when BYU’s Clausen drove him into the turf. After the hit the game was over in Norman and the party was on in Provo.
