The Boston Celtics took down King James, Shaq, and the rest of the Cavaliers 95-89 on opening night in Cleveland. The game showed that the Cavs are in the same situation they were in last year. LeBron needs a running mate. A guy with some size that can create his own shot and put pressure on the defense, and that can match-up with athletic 3-4s. Delonte West, Mo Williams, and Boobie Gibson are too small. Jamario Moon and Anthony Parker aren’t good enough.
The good news from Cleveland’s first game is that LeBron James picked up where he left off defensively. He blocked four shots including chasing down Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen and pinning their ish to the backboard. Read the full story

We learned a few things when the Boston Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers to win the 2008 NBA championship. The Lakers were too soft in the middle to deal with Boston, and Tom Thibodeau’s defensive schemes (Along with quality players) were able to hold Kobe Bryant in check. We also learned that Boston knows how to riot.

The NBA Playoffs are on and crackin’. Yeah the Denver Nuggets are monkey-stomping the Dallas Mavericks, and the Cavaliers look like they’ll handle the A-T-L pretty easily, but the Boston-Orlando and Houston-Los Angeles series have enough action to cover the final eight.

What more can be said about the greatest NBA first-round series, and one of the league’s all-time playoff match-ups? Seven overtimes total including triple and double overtime games. The Baby Bulls became young men and Boston showed the heart of a champion.
So many things happened in the series – bad calls, near fights, and buzzer beaters to name a few – that it leaves me only one way to describe what I witnessed.
Yeah.. That sums it up. Other than the being penetrated by “it” part.
I don’t know how the playoffs get any better from here. Even if we get the LeBron-Kobe, Cleveland-LA Finals that everyone thinks we’re gonna get, the series won’t be able to hold the jock of Bulls-Celtics. Which isn’t really a diss since Bull-Celtics is instant classic, first-ballot Hall of Fame.
Stephon Marbury is free at last from the New York Knicks and in the video below he announces he’s playing for the Boston Celtics even though he’s already said he’s going to Beantown. I guess Steph wanted the National Signing Day feel.
