Allen Iverson and the Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to give up on the A.I. coming off the bench experiment. The Grizzlies waived Iverson on Monday and he’ll be a free agent Wednesday if he clears waivers. Something tells me he will. Read the full story

The Memphis Grizzlies granted Allen Iverson permission to leave the team indefinitely to deal with a personal matter. Something urgent enough that Grizzlies owner Michael Eisley feels it shouldn’t be reported. Barbershop talk says A.I. wore out his welcome in Memphis. NBA fans that wanted to see how Ricky Rubio held up against the league’s competition will have to wait two years according to reports out of Spain. Rubio will honor the final two years of his DKV Joventut contract, leaving the Minnesota Timberwolves at the altar.
We’ve known this has been a possibility since draft night when Ricky’s dad said he might stay in Europe. All NBA and Minnesota Timberwolves fans can do is watch this Ricky Rubio Nike commercial and think about what could have been. Read the full story

Michael Jackson, the greatest performer of our lifetime, died at the age of 50 in a Los Angeles hospital on Thursday. Before he became a pale-faced punchline the King of Pop was the biggest star on the planet. No Internet, no hype. Just dancing and hit after hit.
Nobody likes to admit it now (Like nobody admits to owning one of the millions of records MC Hammer sold) but there was a time when it was cool to be like Mike. For some reason NBA players, more than any other professional athlete, think they can rap. Guys like Gary Payton, Chris Webber, Dana Barros, Malik Sealy, JR Writer JR Rider, Jason Kidd, and Dennis Scott can be seen here getting their Hip Hop Hippie on. Kobe Bryant, Ron Artest, Allen Iverson, and Shaquille O’Neal have all grabbed the mic to show off their supposed skills.. I wouldn’t be surprised if George Mikan had a mixtape back in the day.
