Sumo Wrestler Busted For Marijuana Possession

Sumo Wrestling’s image of noble, and honorable fat guys is coming under attack due to a number of the sport’s stars being involved in controversy. The biggest embarrassment came when the game’s top Sumo, Asashoryu, was caught in a Carlos Zambrano “I’m injured but I can horse around” moment.

The sport has now reached a new low because for the first time a Sumo has been arrested for drug possession.

Police arrested 335-pound Soslan Aleksandrovich Gagloev — better known as Wakanoho — on Monday. They say they found a third of a gram of marijuana in his wallet. That’s enough to land him in prison on a diet of forced labor for five years if he’s convicted.

Damn. Hopefully his lawyer can spin it as some sort of performance enhancing drug use because Wakanoho was having problems making weight. If not, Waka better get ready for five years of a different kind of wrestling.
