Serena Williams channeled John McEnroe on crack at the end of her U.S. Open semifinal match with Kim Clijsters and it cost her a trip the finals. Serena’s chances were already in bad shape because she dropped the first set 6-4 and was trailing 6-5, 15-30 in the second set. The line judge made the mistake of calling a foot fault after Serena had faulted on her first serve. Ms. Williams responded by offering to shove a tennis ball down the line judge’s throat.
I get it Serena.. You wanted to avenge your sister’s loss to Kim Clijsters but you were getting your ass handed to you so you snapped.. But you can’t. It doesn’t matter if you were threatening to kill the judge or asking her out for Starbucks, yelling and causing a scene are reasons people don’t like to recognize your overall game.
