Peyton Manning Out 4-6 Weeks Following Procedure

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will miss four to six weeks of action following a procedure to remove an infected bursa sac from his left knee. Colts president Bill Polian called Manning’s trip to the hospital routine, and said the Indianapolis training staff expects Peyton to make “a full and complete return to action”.

If everything goes according to plan Peyton Manning won’t miss any playing time which leaves hope for him breaking Brett Favre’s 253 consecutive games started record. That’s if Brett ever retires.

“I’d like to gain some ground on Favre if I could, but it looks like that might not happen. I can’t gain on him if he never stops playing,”

Peyton wants the record because he thinks it’s the biggest in sports. And he’s greedy.

Manning went on to call Favre’s record “the most impressive” in all sporting categories, even more so than Cal Ripken’s streak of 2,632 games in baseball.

“What Favre has done, the way that he’s played, to answer the bell every Sunday for his teammates is something that’s impressive,” Manning said. “It would be a nice thing to shoot for because it would mean I’m still playing and hopefully playing at a high level.”

If only Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy felt the same way about Favre.
