NFL WEEK THREE PICKS: REDEMPTION
September 21st, 2007 | by HG |
After last week’s beautiful 4-10-1 effort, I’m embarrassed to be typing around these parts.. I’m still above .500 on the season at 15-12-3, but last week was garbage. I’ve been right on with the Cowboys, Titans, and Falcons, but I don’t have a clue about the Rams, Panthers, or Patriots.. I’m gonna rebound. Right? I’m pressed for time so let me get right to it.. As always, I’m a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, and I have a superstition about picking their games… Good to see it’s working so far this season.
The home team is in bold type.
Indianapolis -6 over Houston: So far, I’ve been wrong about Matt Schaub. It’s only been two games so he could still play poorly, but so far he’s been ballin.. But that was K.C. and Carolina, this is the Colts, and Schaub will be without Andre Johnson.
San Diego -4 over Green Bay: This game worries me. You know how you’re not supposed to bet on every game? I would scratch this one. I’m banking that A) San Diego will come out fired up after last week’s ass whipping, and B) Green Bay won’t go 3-0. I’m nervous about the pick because New England showed SD can be spread out and attacked, and the Chargers sluggish offense will be up against a tough Packer D.
Kansas City -2.5 over Minnesota: I’ve been raggin K.C. early in the season, but I got a feeling this week. Tavaris Jackson’s out for the Vikings and Arrowhead will be rockin’ in the Chiefs’ home opener.
New England -15 over Buffalo: Go ahead and assume that I like the Patriots in every game until further notice.
NYJ -3 over Miami: The Jets because I have to pick somebody.
Pittsburgh -8.5 over San Francisco: The Niners have uglied their way to 2 victories while Pittsburgh is curb stompin teams. The Steelers will pull away in the 2nd half for the cover.
Baltimore -7 over Arizona: The Cardinals aren’t ready to take their act on the road yet. Plus, there’s gonna be some letdown after two divisional games.
St. Louis +3.5 over Tampa Bay: The Rams have screwed me twice this season and still, I’m right back on them. If they don’t cover this week, assume that I’m against St. Louis until further notice.
Denver -3 over Jacksonville: Jay Cutler doesn’t have qb’n down to a science yet, but the high altitude alone should give Denver 2 points. I remember when the Jags went to Mile High and put the Broncos out of the playoffs. Those Jags were good, these stink.
Seattle -3 over Cincinnati: The Bengals are gonna fall to 1-2 which means another slow start for Marvin Lewis’ team. Cincy’s gonna need to go on a 3-4 game win streak to keep Marvin’s seat cool.
Oakland -3 over Cleveland: Yeah right. The Browns are gonna drop 51 and then go on the road and serve Oakland? It seems too easy.. That means something’s wrong.
Carolina -4 over Atlanta: Atlanta’s terrible but they have to win a game at some point right? Yes. But not this week.
NYG +4 over Washington: A late field goal wins the game. I don’t know which team will win, but it’ll be by a late field goal.
Dallas +3 at Chicago: Dallas is the early season cream of the NFC crop. There’s no team in the NFC that the Cowboys can’t whip on their own field.
New Orleans -5 over Tennessee: The Saints get a chance to snap outta their funk at home on Monday night. Sean Payton’s offense will get on track to avoid going 0-3.
