Damon Weaver is a third grader at Kathryn E. Cunningham Canal Point Elementary in Canal Point, Fla. that wants to be a reporter and astronaut when he grows up. He got a chance to show off his sideline reporting skills with the 2010 Pro Bowl Players. Weaver talks to Darnell Dockett about his “Fartbox” nickname, questions Nick Mangold about Mark Sanchez’ race, and gives Brandon Marshall a hard time about the “McDonald’s bag” excuse. That sounds kinda cool until you find out he’s interviewed President Obama as well.
Weaver and his partner Anthony Bowie interviewed a number of Pro Bowlers but I thought the back and forth with Donovan McNabb, Tony Romo, and Maurice Jones-Drew were the best.
Weaver asks Donovan if he really likes Chunky Soup (“Not anymore.”), about his beef with Terrell Owens, and he gets McNabb to admit he’s cried after losing a big game. That should go over well in Philly.
Weaver does his best to get a “Carrie Underwood or Jessica Simpson?” answer from Romo but Tony laughs it off. Romo also says he’s never cried after a big loss and that real men don’t cry. Shot at 5 or coincidence?
The funniest part about Weaver’s interview with Maurice Jones-Drew is that the two are damn near the same height. I’d be cocky as hell too if I was a bad-ass four foot something Pro Bowl running back.
