Mike Greenberg has issued a statement in regards to his Martin Luther King Jr. slip of the tongue Monday morning on ESPN’s “Mike and Mike in the Morning.” It’s pretty weak. You can read it for yourself below.
I just came home from the Knicks game and found out about the mess that was created by my garbling a sentence on our show this morning; I apologize for not addressing it sooner.
And I’m sorry that my talking too fast – and slurring my words – might have given people who don’t know our show the wrong impression about us, and about me.
I feel horrible about that, because nothing could be further away from who I am and what our show is about.
I would never say anything like that, not in public, or in private, or in the silence of my own mind, and neither would anyone associated with our show, and I’m very sorry that my stumble this morning gave so many people the opposite impression.
If I treat Greenberg’s apology like he would treat an athlete’s apology then I have to doubt the sincerity of his statement. He doesn’t even mention Dr. King’s name. Greenberg and ESPN can and have to do better than this half-assed attempt at an apology. Hopefully he does a better job of addressing this on Tuesday’s show.

wtf are you in a huff about? he didn’t say what you think he said, why should he apologize for SOMETHING HE DIDN”T SAY? he apologized for the fact that what he really said was misheard or sounded like something that it wasn’t. please STFU!
