I’m not an expert in politics but I know republican gubernatorial candidate John Kasich is going about unseating incumbent democrat Ted Strickland the wrong way. While seemingly everybody in Ohio is praying for LeBron James to re-sign with the Cavaliers this summer Kasich is doing the opposite. He joined Alan Colmes on Fox News Radio last week and when Colmes said “Your opponent has joined the chorus to keep James in Cleveland. I just wonder if you’re gonna join that,” Kasich committed what could be political suicide.

“I’m not singing in any chorus for LeBron James.”

That comment came after Kasich said the last person he’s worried about is LeBron James. I told you he was running his campaign the wrong way.

Ohio democrats picked up on Kasich’s statement and decided to use it to their advantage. They launched an “Ohioans Against LeBron James” website that features Kasich as the founder and only member. Here’s their first video:

The good news for Kasich is that LeBron will sign with Chicago make his decision around mid-July and the election isn’t until November. That’s plenty of time for Ohioans to forget his anti-King comments. Kasich’s campaign spokesman Scott Milburn is already doing spin control:

“John’s a Cavs fan and hopes LeBron chooses to stay in Cleveland.”

Kasich speaks out of both sides of his mouth very well. Maybe he does have what it takes to be governor.
