Kenyatta Jones’ Year Is Getting Worse

Kenyatta Jones

Former NFL player Kenyatta Jones is having a year to forget. First, he was arrested in March for battery on a law enforcement officer. Jones was being escorted by security from a nightclub for attempting to piss on the dance floor when he shoved an officer into a wall and was eventually tasered. Jones, who is now a member of the Tampa Bay Storm in the Arena Football League, can add a drug arrest to his resume sheet.

Police conducted a drug sweep in the Tampa Bay area and Kenyatta Jones got caught in the net.
From the St. Petersburg Times:

Among those charged was Tampa Bay Storm offensive lineman Kenyatta Jones, 29, who detectives monitored arranging a drug buy from a dealer, a Tampa police spokeswoman said.

Laura McElroy said officers overheard him arranging to buy from one of the dealers, then watched him as he purchased less than a gram of cocaine and less than a gram of marijuana.

Police admit that Kenyatta Jones isn’t a major part of the investigation that caught 40 people and expects to bring in 30 more. The Tampa Bay Storm haven’t kicked Jones off the team, but spokesman Jim Robinson doesn’t sound like he’s expecting him back.

“We are very concerned because these are serious accusations. We’ll gather information and let the legal process work its way out, and comment after we have more information.”

Translation: Kenyatta was already on thin ice and now we’re talking with our lawyers to figure out the easiest way to dump his ass.
