Houston Dynamo and Toronto FC Are Legitimate Chokers

Soccer is supposed to become more than a blip on the US sports scene because of Landon Donovan’s late goal against Algeria that sent Americans into a coast-to-coast football frenzy. The fever will wear off in a couple of weeks when the World Cup ends and the MLB All-Star game and NFL training camps take center stage.

The Houston Dynamo and Toronto FC played in ESPN’s MLS game of the week on Thursday. The most exciting part of the 1-1 tie was Houston’s Joseph Ngwenya getting into a neck grabbing contest with Toronto’s Nana Attakora-Gyan. The fight broke out because Ngwenya played on after committing a foul and resulted in Ngwenya and FC’s Julian de Guzman being red carded.
