Detroit News Report Wrong, Allen Iverson Not Banned From Casinos

Game On: Allen Iverson Not Banned From Detroit Casinos

They say good news travels fast, but it’s the bad news that moves quickly. People can’t wait to pass along the latest “Did you hear about…?”. The worst part about that kind of gossip is when the information is wrong.

Allen Iverson ready to hit the links

An example of bad news (in both senses) is Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reporting on the Pistons Blog that Allen Iverson had been banned from the MGM and Greektown casinos in downtown Detroit. It was on Detroit News.. Of course I bought it..

If McCosky had said AI’s bodyguard was involved in an Easter Sunday brawl, he would’ve been right. Instead, he was dead wrong.

From FreeP.com:

Greektown casino spokesman Riley Meredith said Iverson has not been banned from the casino, nor did he know if Iverson has ever been warned about improper behavior at the casino.

And MGM Grand Detroit spokesman Jamaine Dickens also said Iverson has not been banned from that casino and added he is unaware of any behavior problems involving the athlete at MGM Grand.

This is exactly why I don’t trust bloggers. Just a bunch of clowns sitting around in their moms’ basements making up stories and completely disrespecting journalism.

So for the record.. AI is still allowed to gamble in Detroit casinos and stiff Minesota cabbies for four bucks.
