Cussing live on-air at ESPN is nothing new but until today it had been strictly a North American tradition. Barry Melrose, Scott Van Pelt, Lawrence Frank, Maria Menounos, Jon Gruden, Danyelle Sargent and others have all either not known they were live or slipped up during a broadcast.

Erik Bielderman, a French reporter for L’Equipe, became the first European to cuss live on ESPN when he joined Bob Ley to talk about the problems between French striker Nicolas Anelka and coach Raymond Domenech. After a hard to understand explanation of Domenech calling out Anelka for his play Bielderman gave Anelka’s response to the shock of Bob Ley.

“Go to fuck yourself” and “you son of a bitch.”

At least one Frenchman is on his game.
