Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Freddie Mitchell was well known during his brief 4 year NFL career. Not for his play, because outside of 4th and 26 he didn’t do much. It’s hard to believe that he was drafted ahead of Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, and Reggie Wayne. Donovan McNabb probably throws up every time he thinks about that. (Or anytime he scrambles on consecutive plays in games played in Florida. Trust me. These are the dumb things I notice.) It kills me and I’m just fan.
Even though he didn’t display much on the field, FredEx talked a good game and it looks like he still does. Freddie was hanging out at the UCLA Bruins’ pro day workout talking to scouts and letting them know he can still get down. He also talked about why he didn’t succeed in Philly.
“Me and T.O. were the best of friends, and that hurt my relationship with Donovan. There were issues between me and Donovan.”
Freddie’s right. His tight relationship with T.O. probably did piss off Donovan. As did his drops and bad routes. Freddie hasn’t been able to catch on with a team, even Canadian, since being released by the Eagles in ‘04. I don’t see that changing now. At least he still has his day job as an option.
