A former assistant high school football coach was arrested Saturday morning and charged with suspicion of burglary, vandalism and attempted arson after being caught driving on the lawn of his former employer. Brian Butcher was laid off from his receivers and defensive backs coaching position on the freshman-sophomore team by Los Gatos High School a year ago, but he hasn’t gotten over it yet.
From the SF Gate:
Brian Butcher, 34, of Saratoga was arrested about 1 a.m. Saturday after police responded to an alarm at the school.
Officers found that the glass door to the gym had been smashed by a shot put. They also found Butcher driving a vehicle on the front lawn of the campus, police said.
Butcher had flammable materials in his possession.
Butcher did not appear to be intoxicated but was angry that the school let him go a year ago, Rimple said.
The most shocking part of this story is the fact that Butcher wasn’t drunk. Maybe he wasn’t drinking but he had to be on something if he’s throwing a shot put through a door and driving on the school lawn. Butcher probably shouldn’t put down Los Gatos High School as a reference on future job applications.
