COLTS AT RAVENS
I thought the Ravens defense would be out for blood after sitting around for a week
without anyone to hit. To their credit, the Baltimore defense did their part. The offense stunk up the field, and couldn’t really seem to find their groove. The Colts defense had its second straight strong showing although I’m still not sure if they’ve really stopped anybody. Doesn’t really matter now because they’ve allowed 8 points and 6 points in the playoffs. My favorite moment of the game was when it ended (literally too) and Peyton faux-confidently shook his fist, like he had done anything other than try to give the game to Baltimore. I was just looking at the tv thinking slow your roll fella. I had Ravens -4 so that’s a loser. Indianapolis Colts 15 Baltimore Ravens 6
EAGLES AT SAINTS
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M50FwDSseaw]
The video pretty much says everything you need to know except that Andy Reid isn’t a moron, he just plays one at key moments in games. The Eagles converted a 4th and 10 from their own 44 with under two minutes left, but the play was called back by penalty. 4th and 15 from their own 39 now so Andy Reid punts the ball to the Saints with 1:48 left in the game. Even though his team has two timeouts remaining to stop the clock, what made Andy Reid think the Eagles would suddenly be able to stop the Saints? New Orleans had 1 drive that went 3 and out for the entire game. Every other drive was at least 4 plays before a punt with long drives of 14, 11, and 10 plays. So giving up the ball in hopes of getting the ball back seems like a mistake. I had the Eagles +6. Chicken Dinner. New Orleans Saints 27 Philadelphia Eagles 24
SEAHAWKS AT BEARS

I know the video is a little old but it cracks me up every time I think of it. 1) Collinsworth is so close to that microphone I can’t believe they allow the video on youtube. 2)That’s for NBC? Why the hell is my man stuffed in a mailroom or closet or where ever the hell he is? Anyways..The game was pretty good. A nice high scoring affair. I don’t know if Seattle’s secondary is that banged up and that bad, or if Lovie Smith is just kinda crazy, but either way Rex Grossman chucked the ball 38 times and only threw one pick. Seattle had plenty of chances to win the game, but the Bears won in overtime 27-24. After watching the Bears I would like to congratulate the New Orleans Saints on making their first Super Bowl appearance. I had the Bears winning the game but not covering. He’s heating up.. Chicago Bears 27 Seattle Seahawks 24 OT
PATRIOTS AT CHARGERS
A really good game to watch. Tom Brady completed 27 of FIFTY ONE passes to lead the Patriots to an exciting 24-21 victory, but if NE had lost I woulda started “Brady’s 3 picks doom the Patriots”. I guess you can throw 10 picks in a playoff game as long as Marty Schottenheimer is on the other sideline. Marty’s playoff record is now 5-13 overall, 0-3 as the number one seed. Sure he had the inexperienced Philip Rivers at quarterback, but the other parts of that team are good enough to compensate for Rivers. It seems as if something larger is at play. I don’t know if it’s fate, I don’t know if it’s cosmic forces, I don’t know what you call it, but maybe Marty just isn’t meant to win when it matters. Cleveland, Kansas City, and now San Diego are all on the list of places where Schottenheimer has come up short. In today’s game, the Chargers were up 8 points with 6:16 left in the game. New England had 4th and 5 from the San Diego 41. Tom Brady’s pass over the middle was intercepted by Marlon McCree. As McCree is returning the pick upfield, Patriot wide receiver Troy Brown strips the ball. The fumble is recovered by former Charger Reche Caldwell…1st down Patriots at the SD 32. OTS (Only To Schottenheimer) does something like that happen. Of course New England scored a touchdown with the extra life, and of course they went for two and got it. The touchdown pass was thrown to Reche Caldwell who absolutely killed his former team today. He had the fumble recovery, a touchdown catch, and a huge 49 yard reception (maybe coulda/shoulda scored but couldn’t keep his balance) with 2:42 left in the game to set the Patriots up at San Diego’s 17 yard line and in position for the game winning kick. On the other side of the ball LT was LT. 23 carries 123 yards 2 tds. He did his thing but today it wasn’t enough. I had the Patriots covering the 4.5 but losing the game. I was right about the part that matters. New England Patriots 24 San Diego 21
