Diary of a Los Angeles Clippers Fan (Part 15)

Clipper Diary Main

What up world. After a short absence this past Monday, I’m back with another edition of my Diary of a Los Angeles Clippers fan. As I made clear in my last post and as I’m sure most of you heard in jokes, the Clippers season recently took a turn for the worst. The team followed a four-game winning streak up with the loss of Blake Griffin and four straight L’s, including a 40 point embarrassment against the Lakers that was the worst in their LA history.

I’ve been pretty pessimistic about it all since the Memphis loss and Blake news, but luckily for Clipper Nation the schedule called for games against the New Jersey Nets and Chicago Bulls. Both those franchises have had their fair share of futility this season (3-38 record for the Nets, a blown 35-point lead by the Bulls) and the Clips were able to get two more wins on their record, bringing them to 19-22 so far.

In addition to the wins, the team announced that the Blake knee surgery was a success and said they expected him to recover in four to six months. The idea was also tossed around by more than a few people that the Clippers could possibly sign LeBron James after he becomes a free agent on July 1 of this year, but I know better than to really entertain that.

Before any other Clips fans get mad, I know we have a great young line-up that would fit perfectly with LeBron’s abilities, but in the end we’re still the LA freakin’ Clippers. ‘Nuff said.

As for the latest in Clipper-ville, they play the Denver Nuggets tonight, a team they beat earlier this year. Starter Eric Gordon is not expected to play after spraining his left toe. As of the time this was published, they were still keeping it competitive with a 37-36 score.

Although I’d love to see a win, I won’t be betting on it.
