Serena Williams captured her third U.S. Open title with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Jelena Jankovic, and celebrated by throwing her racket into the air and literally jumping for joy. The victory means Serena Williams will be ranked number one for the first time since 2003.

I’m glad Serena won but I couldn’t tell if she was at the U.S. Open or The Price is Right. Now excuse me while I watch from :27 to :36 on an endless loop.

Venus and Serena Williams are following in the footsteps of Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson by becoming two sport stars. The ladies have joined the Double Stuffed Racing League and seem to be taking it very seriously. The DSRL already features Peyton and Eli Manning, and now the brothers should expect a challege from the Williams sisters.

I’m not really into the DSRL. I tried picking it up last season but the league was weak with most of the best players living in third world countries. And besides, I know the Oreo people aren’t concerned with who wins the Double Stuffed race. They just wanted to pass a subliminal double stuffed oreo image on to consumers.

The Sony Ericsson WTA enlisted some of the hottest women in the game for their new “Looking For A Hero?” commercials. Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, and Ana Ivanovic and 10 other players answer the call to transform into “super tennis stars”. I was hoping for a few more bikini shots as in at least one, but 13 hot tennis players in one commercial will have to do.

Being young, rich, and famous is a problem most people would welcome with open arms. Having to deal with the media and fans seems like a fair trade-off for millions of dollars to somebody on the outside. Female tennis player Maria Sharapova loves her life, but says it’s still weird to be considered a celebrity.

From the Telegraph:

“I still find my celebrity weird – it’s always weird, you know, when I see my image on the cover of a magazine. That’s very, very strange. I remember for a while I had been getting a lot of praise from people, but I never felt as though I deserved it until I had won grand slams and held the world No 1 ranking. And then I thought, ‘OK, all that talk, I understand it now’. But before then it was just random.”

That quote sums up the difference between Maria Sharapova and Anna Kournikova. Maria felt bad for receiving attention without winning anything while Anna soaked it up. If Kournikova had won half as much as Sharapova, Anna would be 100x more popuplar now.

Being a famous tennis player has had non-financial perks for Maria Sharapova too. She got to meet MJ.

“I do get star struck myself. I remember meeting Michael Jordan one time at the airport. He came up to me and asked me if I was ‘that tennis player’. I was so nervous that I could hardly speak. I said, ‘Uh, yeah, I play tennis’. He’s a great athlete and an inspiration, and a really nice person as well.”

Michael Jordan is the greatest finisher in the history of the NBA, so I’ll let his terrible “are you that tennis player?” opening line slide.. Still, you would think Jordan would be smoother than that.

Dinara Safina knocked off Serena Williams on Friday at the German Open bringing Serena’s 17-match winning streak to an end. Serena talks about the loss on her website, and says it’s better to lose at the German Open than at Roland Garros. Serena will be packing a little something extra for her competition at the French Open after hearing players celebrate her loss at the German Open.

It was funny when I lost I was in the locker room and I could hear the entire players lounge really loud like really happy and joyous. Like down goes the champ! Someone beat her!!! It was like a big hoopla…. I just smiled to myself thinking you just wait… just wait……

Williams is off to a good start this season, and now that the other ladies on tour have pissed her off, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Serena make a run on the clay courts. I’m always hoping Serena wins, especially a Slam, but I’m really hoping she does another dance routine in the Roland Garros karaoke booth.

Still I got to pause when I think about her in those draws..I would’ve started typing right after the picture like I normally do, but I had to take a moment of silence for Serena Williams’ ass… If I had the comments enabled I’d get all of the “that’s gross, she’s fat, eeeeewwww” type of comments but ass aficionados know what’s up.. That’s luggage..

Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Williams, has never been one to bite his tongue. It doesn’t matter to Richard if he sounds like a fool to us, he’s gonna say what he has to say. Remember the time he was arguing with a judge in court?

Serena and Venus were recently in India playing tennis and doing some modeling. Unfortunately for them Papa Williams was there too and doing interviews. He spoke with the Deccan Herald and let me tell you, he was in the zone.

On how his daughters are treated in tennis:

Tennis is a prejudice game. Well, I’m Black and I’m prejudiced, very prejudiced. I’ll be always prejudiced as the White man. The White man hated me all my life and I hate him. That’s no secret. I’m not even an American, it just so happens that I was born in America. People are prejudiced in tennis. I don’t think Venus or Serena was ever accepted by tennis. They never will be. But if you get some little White no good trasher in America like Tracy Austin or Chris Evert who cannot hit the ball, they will claim this is great.

On Venus and Serena after tennis:

There were taught that there is a life behind the baseline. If you look at most of your tennis players when they are finished playing tennis, where are they going? Look at (John) McEnroe, (Martina) Navratilova, Vijay Amritraj, look at all of them. All their lives they have been in sports, where are they now? Do you want that for your child?
You go spend 20 years playing tennis and another 20 years announcing tennis, that is 40 years of your life, you mean, you never learnt anything else!?

Skipping right over the “f you whitey” section of his rant, it’s hilarious to hear a guy that’s famous only because of his daughters calling out people that have dedicated their lives to tennis for not learning anything else. What the hell has Richard Williams ever done besides make two hot daughters?.. I mean, besides go on racist tirades that make John Rocker say “whoa, dude, Richard, tone it down.”

When Serena Williams isn’t talking about her big booty, or getting interviewed at the aiport, she battles evil for Hewlett Packard. In this video, the tennis diva is protecting the city of Comptonia from a knowledge hating mechanical menace… I have to wonder though, if Serena has the ability to become Sugar Fly Williams, why doesn’t she do that during her WTA matches? She could easily be the greatest tennis player of all time. And I hope Venus Williams can at least see through walls or something. If Venus doesn’t have any superhuman abilities that means her younger sister Serena:

1. is a better tennis player than Venus.
2. dates all kinds of semi-celebs while Venus gets stuck with Hank Kuehne.
3. can fly and kick ass while Venus watches.

If it’s possible for things to suck for a 20something millionaire that fought her way out of the ghetto through tennis, then it sucks to be Venus Williams.
