The San Francisco Giants held a pregame ceremony in honor of their best outfielders and as rumored, Barry Bonds showed up to participate. The crowd gave Barry a standing ovation proving that there’s at least one city where Bonds isn’t hated.

At the end of Barry’s speech (2:01-2:37) he says “I’m not retired“. I hate to be the one to break it to Barry but he’s retired. He might want to play, and could probably still put in work, but Major League Baseball has decided not to let Bonds get near a baseball field unless it’s to be part of some sort of reunion. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t see the difference between Barry Bonds cheating and guys like Rick Ankiel, Troy Glaus, Miguel Tejada, Andy Pettitte, Jason Giambi, Ivan Rodriguez, Paul Byrd, Gary Sheffield, Brian Roberts, and Gary Matthews jr. cheating.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I been caught up in the world, some business, some pleasure, but I still should’ve done a better job of keeping up. I let a number of things slip by that I wanted to talk about, and I had some videos for y’all to check out. I don’t wanna make any excuses cause like I said, some of it’s been pleasure, so I been slackin.

If I had been on my game I woulda had a post about the All-Star game. I woulda mentioned how the only thing missing from the 4 hour pre-game show was Willie Mays’ son threatening to turn his pops into a fudgesicle. I thought the game was all right, and in the 9th inning when LaRussa didn’t put Pujols in, I knew where Tony was coming from. Just a few weeks ago when the Angels played the Cardinals, Rodriguez had Pujols looking silly. And I’m a Cards fan.

There are not enough keys on the board for me to type about the contributions Jackie Robinson made not only to baseball, but to the United States. Jackie was a braver and better man than I could ever claim to be, and I would like to see him get more recognition.

Speaking of recognition.. There was no mention of Willie Mays, Reggie Jackson, or Barry Bonds in the video. How does Willie Mays not get a shout out? I gotta assume Barry didn’t get one because they didn’t want to attach any controversy to such a worthy cause. I’m glad everybody’s thanking Jackie, but keep in mind, he’s the guy responsible for Elijah Dukes too.
