Lou Piniella: I Have Smoked Dope

Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella is known as a straight-shooter so why would we expect him to do anything differently when discussing Geovany Soto’s positive drug test during the World Baseball Classic? Lou spoke to the Chicago media before the Cubs and White Sox played and admitted to trying marijuana one time.

From the Chicago Tribune:

“Look, I have smoked dope one time in my life, and it didn’t do a damn thing for me, and I never tried it again,” he said. “And I’m fortunate because of that. But a lot of people do [smoke marijuana]. You can buy it in California from a pharmacy.”

That explains why Geovany Soto loves the West Coast road trip.

Cincinnati Bengals running back Kenny Irons is enjoying himself behind the camera at the Newport, Kentucky Hooters. He’s talking about weed, buying pitchers of beer, and destroying the Bengals’ choirboy image. Irons doesn’t appear to be doing anything wrong, but with all of the off the field problems the Bengals have had the players should know to keep a lower profile than this.
