Sex and sports are guaranteed to do traffic on the Internet. The Net was invented to give sports-crazed, sex-starved guys an outlet, and to occasionally provide driving directions and movie times.

I don’t remember this story getting much play at the time, but the fellas from The Heater talked to Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Rays about “EvanLongoria.com” being available on EBay for $25,000. Longoria didn’t think much of his name being auctioned off in August.

Longoria laughed when he heard about it Friday. “That’s weird,” he said. “And kind of funny. What are they going to come up with next? I guess it’s a good idea if you’re the guy selling it. He beat me to the punch.”

It turns the seller, Dave Pierce, is also the owner of online ticket brokerage eSellout.com, and he didn’t sell the website. He still owns EvanLongoria.com but it points to eSellout.com.

Pierce commented on the original EvanLongoria.com for sale post in an attempt to justify jacking somebody’s name and trying to flip it for 25 grand.

If someone is willing to update and create content on an Evan Longoria fan page I would be willing to listen. To this date I never found anyone so I thought about selling. -Dave

I’d like to congratulate Pierce for being a moron and a genius. He’s a moron for slanging tickets off of Evan Longoria’s name but he’s a genius for introducing this new marketing strategy.

All the corporations have to do is align themselves with athletes that fit their image. It shouldn’t be hard. Here’s three I came up with in two seconds. EddyCurry.com, MattJones.com, or TravisHenry.com. OK, the last one doesn’t work, but you see where I’m going with this.

Shaquille O’Neal and his wife Shaunie have been working on saving their marriage for a while, and now the couple feels comfortable in saying that they’re staying together. Well at least Shaunie O’Neal does.

Ms. O’Neal was being interviewed by the Associated Press about her new video sharing Web site when she spoke on her marriage.

“Neither one of us could probably answer why we were getting one in the first place.”

“Things have been going so great, that someone actually had to remind us that ‘Hey, you do remember those papers are still there.’ Literally, it was days ago. So, we’ve agreed that before we leave Florida in a few days we’ll make sure that that’s gone away.”

Sounds like they’ve worked things out. Or that Shaq thought about the financial hit he was gonna take and let bygones be bygones. Or he thought about the ammo this would give Kobe’s revenge rap and decided to bite the bullet.

A global ticketing scam has taken advantage of hundreds of people hoping to attend the Summer Olympics in Beijing. The phony tickets were sold via internet on a website with official looking Olympic logos that were attractive enough to sucker people from the US to down under.

From the Times Online:

The website, www.beijingtickets.com, is being investigated after the International Olympic Committee received complaints from hundreds of people in Britain, the US and Australia who had handed over up to £30,000 for tickets to events in Beijing, only to find the tickets did not exist. The IOC is launching legal action in a Californian court today to shut down the site.

The site is currently down, but it’s too little too late. The company has been getting over on people all year.

The website has previously been accused of fleecing British music fans in a similar scam. In March a newspaper investigation found that the site’s parent company, XL & H Ltd had sold non-existent tickets to Take That fans for concerts in Manchester and Glasgow.

There’s no word on how people that paid for the Olympic tickets will be reimbursed, but this once again proves why Joe Paterno doesn’t own a computer.

Randy Moss bought 50 percent ownership of Morgan-Dollar Motorsports, changed the name to Randy Moss Motorsports, and hired Jimmie Johnson to race for him in the Craftsman Truck Series. To prove he’s serious about his NASCAR game Moss has launched RandyMossMotorsports.com.

Randy Moss Motorsports is a vision developed by New England Patriots All-Pro Wide Receiver Randy Moss.

Randy has always had an interest in the world of auto racing including the sponsorship of a local dirt track program in West Virginia. That interest has been strengthened by his recent involvement in the Urban Youth Racing School as an Ambassador for the program.

With Randy Moss Motorsports, the NFL star looks to develop a program that presents a great marketing platform for companies in the sport as well as presenting opportunities for people with diverse backgrounds to become involved in NASCAR.

Randy Moss has been a fan of auto racing for most of his life so you know he wants drive one of the trucks instead of watching. It would be tight to see Randy Moss race in the Craftsman Truck Series on Saturday and then line up for the New England Patriots on Sunday. Despite what numerous people believe, Kwame Brown is no dummy. He knows that this basketball thing might not work out for him, and he’s thinking about his future.. At least I think he is. Kwame appears to be associated Brown Productions. Their website isn’t very functional but here’s their welcome statement:

There’s not a lot going on there, but if you’re wondering why the Los Angeles Lakers dumped Kwame Brown, other than the fact that he was Frank Caliendo/Charles Barkley turrabul, it’s probably because he partied too much.

I understand guys hate reporting for training camp but two parties? Damn Kwame. Take a break.. For a month.

You starting to notice the trend yet? Good. This next one isn’t officially a Kwame Brown party. Brown Productions threw a party with Lakers point guard Jordan Farmar. Jordan obviously wasn’t paying attention to what happened to Brian Cook.

This is the party that featured the Kwame Brown commercial.

Can you imagine how much Kwame would party if he actually lived up to being the overall number one pick? That’s scary.

It’s time to trade Lamar Odom. Get his ass on the first thing smoking. Destination: Anywhere but here. There’s no other way to put this.. Lamar, GET OUT.

Think about it.. Do the Lakers really want to saddle themselves with this guy? This is the same guy that we haven’t heard a peep from the whole offseason. He hasn’t criticized management, he hasn’t demanded a trade. All he’s done is sit back and hear his name in trade rumor after trade rumor, and he’s still acting like a gentleman? Bullshit!! Get his ass outta here.

How quickly we all forget. Lamar Odom is the dude that tore the labrum in his left shoulder, missed 5 games, and then returned to the line-up. He even had surgery AFTER the season. That’s garbage. He averaged 19 points and 13 boards in the playoffs against Phoenix. Who the hell does he think he is? And why isn’t he helping the team? When Kobe’s scoring 40, 50, or 60, all Lamar’s doing is passing the ball or trying to stay active in the offense while Kobe’s dribbling the 24 second clock down. When Kobe called damn near every radio station in the country, how many did Lamar call? Zero. He made Kobe carry the load again. That’s unacceptable.

What has Lamar Odom done to prove that he’s worthy of staying in Los Angeles? He hasn’t chased the owner of the team, Jerry Buss, halfway around the world to bitch and moan. He hasn’t been leaking his discontent to Ric Bucher or Stephen A. Smith. Hell, he hasn’t even been caught on tape, by a camera phone at a strip mall, berating Andrew Bynum and Mitch Kupchak. It seems like he wants out of here to me, and I think the Lakers should grant him his wish.

 Have you seen Lamar Odom’s website, http://www.lamarodom.com/? What the hell is that? Where’s the trade demand, where are the goodbyes? Lamar, my man, what’s the point in having the website if you’re not using it to talk shit? Odom can’t do anything right. It’s like he’s daring the team to trade him. The Los Angeles Lakers can not stand for this.

The Lakers need to go ahead, cut their losses, and move on. Who knows if Odom’s going to Indiana or Minnesota? He has the gall not to speak on it. I’d like to hear Lamar speak on how he was a key piece in Miami’s trade offer that forced Shaq out of Los Angeles.. He’s playing his “good soldier” role to perfection, and this is Hollywood, but the team can’t have him not acting out… The fact that Lamar Odom puts the team ahead of himself intentionally is selfish, and the Lakers should trade him now.
