The Washington Redskins single-handedly ended the Lions 19-game losing streak although all the credit will go to Detroit for rallying together for the 19-14 victory at Ford Field. I’ll give new head coach Jim Schwartz credit for getting his team on the field because that’s all he needed to do. Sorry to rain on the Lions parade but the win says more about the state of the ‘Skins (Owner, coaching, and players) than it does about Detroit. Read the full story

Twitter is the social networking flavor of the month that’s stormed on the scene like MySpace and FaceBook. There’s no telling how long the site’s popularity will last; the next big thing could have 130 or 150 characters and blow Twitter out of the water like seven minute abs did to eight minute abs.

The NBA free agency period began at 9 p.m. PST and so far things are quiet on the Eastern and Western conference fronts. There are a few facts (Kobe, Boozer, and Okur staying put), and a few rumors like ‘Sheed to the Celtics.
The Houston Rockets have several concerns entering free agency: Yao Ming’s health, Yao Ming’s backup, and Ron Artest. GM Daryl Morey has taken to Twitter to enlist fans to help him sign some help in the middle. Read the full story
