It looks like Jose Canseco is turning to the poker tables in hopes of turning around his recent financial troubles. Knowing Jose, and knowing the way Jose plays poker, I’m willing to bet that Canseco has a better chance of pounding out 10 more books than making any money playing cards. The oddsmakers agree.

The folks at BoDog, who will set a line on anything, have posted odds on which celebrity will win the most money at the July 3, 2008 WSOP event.

While most of the media and tons of fans will be in San Antonio for the men’s Final Four, thousands of people will be gathering in the Tampa area for the women’s Final Four. Some of the folks in Tampa will be friends and family but a large majority are expected to be lesbians. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. From Tampa Bay dot com:

Starting Friday, Tampa will become a national epicenter for gay women, thousands of whom are coming to town for the Final Four of the women’s NCAA Tournament.

No one knows how many of the 21,655 fans expected to pack the St. Pete Times Forum on April 6 and 8 will be gay. Last year, national leaders in the lesbian community who attended the women’s Final Four in Cleveland estimated at least half of the fans in attendance were lesbians.

I know what some of you idiots are thinking, ‘while the suckers are in San Antonio, I’ll be in Tampa partying with the lesbians‘. If you’re going just to party, go ahead, but if you think you’re about to end up in some sort of crazy 3,4,5-some with lesbians, keep dreaming. The only balls they wanna see are on the court.

It’s been a few post since I’ve written about Venus and Serena Williams.. I know, I know, my bad. There’s nothing too newsworthy going on with the ladies, but any excuse to post their pics works for me.

Venus Williams is in Hong Kong playing in something called the JB Group Classic. During an interview session, the questions were about the Australian Open, Serena, and match fixing in tennis. Venus said that she’ll be battling sister Serena for the number one ranking all season, and the two will play doubles a lot more this year. As far as match fixing goes, Venus doesn’t believe the hype.

“No. I don’t think it is a big thing for tennis, to be honest. I think we are OK, I don’t see it as a problem. I don’t think about it per se,”

Serena Williams is tuning up for the Australian Open in Perth, Australia. Serena’s partnering with Mardy Fish in the $1 Million International Tennis Federation mixed-teams event, and she really wants to win the tournament. Not because she’s overly competitive, but because the winners get diamond encrusted tennis balls as a prize. Serena won one before, but depending on which story you go with, Serena gave the ball to her mom or her mom took the ball. Mix in Venus getting this

from the new Wimbledon line of jewelry, and Serena is hellbent on winning another diamond ball.
