NBA free agent Shannon Brown has an offer from the NY Knicks but he’s waiting to see if the Lakers clear room for him by moving Sasha Vujacic before making a decision. Brown isn’t concerned with the situation in this video of him talking with a group of kids outside of a basketball camp in Switzerland. He fields some ordinary questions -When’s the first time you dunked? What kind of car do you have? What’s Kobe like?- and few off the wall questions such as “do you have another job?” and “can you jump over me?” Around eight minutes into the video Brown explains the confidence every player must have and says “Ron Artest can’t shut me down.” He followed that by saying the comment will probably get blown out of context on Youtube. Nah, no chance of that.

Shannon Brown of the LA Lakers has crazy hops but he doesn’t like to use them in dunk contests. His ups are for game use only. Like this dunk on the Mavericks. Brown got two great dunks against the Celtics in Game 6. The best was the alley-oop he caught from Pau Gasol.

The Los Angeles Lakers put the NBA Finals in a statistical stranglehold Tuesday night with their 91-84 Game 3 win over the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden. Teams that have won Game 3 of an NBA Finals series tied at one apiece are 28-4 overall and 10-0 since going to the 2-3-2 format in 1985. Those numbers, combined with Phil Jackson’s 47-0 record when his team wins the first game of a series, mean it’s time for the Fat Lady to start her vocal scales.

Ray Allen going 0-13 is an easy place to start when you’re looking for what went wrong for the Celtics. Allen almost tied the Finals record of 0-14 from the field one game after setting or tying Finals records for 3s in a game, 3s in a quarter, 3s in a half and consecutive 3s. Ray missed a 14th shot but a Kevin Garnett moving screen saved him from the bottom/top spot. After the game a reporter asked Lakers guard Shannon Brown how he would explain Allen dropping 32 in one game and then two points the next. Brown didn’t try to assess what went wrong. He wants Ray to do it again.

Makes sense that the Lakers would want one of Boston’s best players to miss every shot he takes but I think this is a little deeper for Shannon. I think he’s still harboring some bad feelings for Ray after their meeting in the regular season:

Shannon Brown of the Los Angeles Lakers has incredible, jump-out-of-the-building hops even if he chose not to show them off at the 2010 NBA dunk contest. Apparently he prefers to save the good stuff for the games. When it’s live action, even Brown’s misses are electrifying. Like his dunk attempt against the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals. A couple of more inches and Jason Richardson is the victim of one of the worst facials of all-time.

Brown’s dunk attempt is reminiscent of another dunk involving the Phoenix Suns, but this one had a positive outcome. Of course I’m talking about the time Tom Chambers posterized Mark Jackson.

Los Angeles Lakers guard and best dunker Shannon Brown is dealing with a sprained right thumb that requires him to wear a wrap on his hand during games. He reaggravated the injury Thursday in Denver and then again Friday in Minnesota. Against the Timberwolves a Lamar Odom pass hit Brown on his bad thumb, putting him in obvious pain. Brown took out his frustration on the referees and the Wolves’ Corey Brewer. The best part of the video is the television station attempting to dump Brown’s comment and failing. Dead-air in the middle of a broadcast is always a good sign.

I understand networks want to get player’s reactions immediately after the game. You know, because a person’s thoughts after hours of competition and possibly a quick shower are always the most collected. Los Angeles Lakers guard Shannon Brown was acquired by the team as a throw in when LA sent Vladimir Radmonivich to Charlotte for Adam Morrison in February. So far he’s been the best player in the deal.

Brown gives the Lakers athleticism and toughness off the bench and he’s been one of the few bright spots for the LA backups this season. His play has been solid but his highlight dunks like this put back jam are becoming his calling card.

The Dallas Mavericks stomped the Los Angeles Lakers 94-80 at Staples Center Friday night in a game where the final score didn’t reflect what truly happpened. Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion, and Jason Kidd helped the Mavs turn a seven point halftime lead into a 22-point blowout in the second half. LA got the deficit below 20 but they never challenged Dallas.

It wasn’t all bad for the Lakers. Trailing 78-64 with 9:43 left in the fourth Kobe Bryant faded away behind the 3-point line with two defenders in his face. The shot bounced off the rim to the opposite side, giving Shannon Brown the chance to dunk on Josh Powell.

Shannon Brown’s highlight dunk is the only bright spot for the Lakers bench. The backups have scored 37 points through two games. The Dallas bench had 41 points Friday night. Lamar Odom becomes the sixth man when Pau Gasol returns from injury, but right now Brown, Powell, Jordan Farmar, Sasha Vujacic, and DJ Mbenga seem like a chink in the armor.
