There’s the spirit of competition and then there’s being a jackass. Richard Hanlon opted for the latter. The 50 year old Hanlon has been charged with first-degree arson and burglary after a fire at Capone’s Bar and Grill on July 25th. Just some nutjob right? Yeah , he’s that, and the owner of Paddy’s Sports Bar… He was trying to eliminate the opposition.. And here’s the worst thing about the blaze:

Lost in the fire was an extensive collection of baseball memorabilia, including about 100 old mitts, baseballs, bats, bobblehead dolls and autographed photos of players. Much of the memorabilia was from Don Larsen of Hayden, who pitched a perfect game for the New York Yankees in the 1956 World Series.

To be fair to Hanlon, he claims that he’s innocent, but there’s some video camera footage and some burned Nikes that pointed the police in his direction. I hope the judge throws the book at Hanlon. He burned another man’s business to the ground so he could get ahead. If he had had a good reason, like a Philadelphia Eagles special teams induced drunken rage, I would be more understanding.
