NFL Week Eleven Picks

Don’t call it a comeback because my picks are pretty weak but I dropped two games overall after week nine and I got them back this past weekend with a 8-6 record. My season mark is now 70-62-1. This means I beat the spread 53 percent of the time making me better than flipping a coin but not quite as good as picking out of a hat.

The Thursday night games started last week with the Bears-Niners thriller. This week we get Dolphins-Panthers. The remaining Thursday night schedule looks like this:

Giants-Broncos

Week 13
Jets-Bills

Week 14
Steelers-Browns

Week 15
Colts-Jaguars
Cowboys-Saints (Saturday)

Week 16
Chargers-Titans (Christmas Friday)

The Giants-Broncos, Colts-Jaguars, and Cowboys-Saints games will definitely have playoff implications. The other games feature teams that need to win because of playoff positioning but the team they’re facing is crap like Steelers-Browns in week 14, or two crap teams like Jets-Bills in week 13. Not exactly the bargaining chip the NFL Network was hoping for in its battle with the cable providers.

The Falcons-Giants and Chargers-Broncos games are off the board right now. I’ll update their lines when they become available. As always, I don’t pick sides in games involving the Philadelphia Eagles. My winners are in bold type.

NFL Week Ten Picks

It’s mid-November so it’s time for the NFL to start their week on Thursday and for cable subscribers to flock to sports bars or the buddy’s place with satellite. Unless the Bears and Niners are playing in which case catching the highlights will do.

Road teams were 9-4 against the spread last week and I liked nine home teams. There’s nothing I can say. I knew something was wrong with my picks last week but I stuck to my blank filled guns. I went 5-7 to drop my season record to 62-56-1. Hopefully the change in the schedule can bring about a change in my picks.

As always, I don’t pick games with the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL Week Nine Picks

I can predict the future. Last week I said I would improve my record by two games and I ended up going 7-5. The sad thing is I was 5-1 at one point and then Sunday afternoon/Monday night happened and I fell apart. The Packers, Cardinals, Jags, and Saints stopped my roll and left my season mark at 57-49-1.

So here’s my prediction for this week: Pain. Most of the home teams look good so something’s gonna go wrong. I’m feeling more losses than wins.

As always, I don’t pick games with the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL Week 8 Picks

If you’re using my picks for anything other than entertainment purposes you’re a moron. You’d be better off having your girlfriend or dog or dog girlfriend if you’re the Steve Phillips type making the picks for you. I went 5-6-1 last week and picked beauties like Tampa Bay, Cleveland, and Oakland. They lost by a combined 104-10. I should barely be allowed to pick my own clothes let alone pick football games.

Even though I don’t know what I’m talking about I’ve still managed to go 50-44-1. I’m predicting my record will improve by at least two games this week. Yeah. Bet on it.

NFL Week 7 Picks

I said last week “The NFL season is taking shape which means picking games against the spread should be getting easier” and then posted a 7-6 record in week six. I’m one game above .500 the last two weeks but 45-38 overall.

Will things get turned around? I gonna say yes but it’s the kind of the yes you give when a woman asks if you like her new haircut and A) You don’t like it or B) You didn’t notice. Yeah, sure..

The NFL is Full of Long-Haired Hippies

According to The Wall Street Journal roughly 10 percent of NFL players have long-hair. And 104 of the 164 long-haired players are on the defensive side of the ball.

One reason for that is it’s legal to tackle a guy by his wig. Remember when Larry Johnson dragged Troy Polamalu down by the mane?

It probably hurt like a sonofabitch but Troy didn’t cut his hair. Not when it can make him easy money in shampoo commercials.

2009 NFL Week Two Picks

Week two of the 2009 NFL season is about to begin and already teams are looking at hard times. The Eagles are without Donovan McNabb, LT won’t go for the Chargers, and the Lions still haven’t won a football game since the 2007 season. My picks are off to a less than spectacular start too. I’m 8-6 so far but it’s all downhill from here..
