Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley left their comfortable Atlanta studio to call Thursday’s Heat-Bulls game live from the United Center. The trip was close to a complete waste of time and money because Miami led by 30 at the half and won the game 103-74. Luckily for TNT and the world, the Chuckster stepped up to save the day. His story about his grandma using WD-40 on her ankles and knees is an all-time classic.

Duct tape, getting credit in a child’s name and WD-40 on the joints. Who says blowouts suck?

At the end of the night Charles, Kenny, and EJ debated the fill-in studio team of Matt Winer, Chris Webber and Kevin McHale over which trio would win in a 3-on-3 game. Somehow Charles ended arguing with his teammates.

You ever have one of those days where it seems like everyone and everything is against you? The type of day when you’re the butt of every joke, and anything that could go wrong does. Well that’s what it’s like being a part of the NBA on TNT lately. First Ron Artest went in on Charles Barkley and Chris Webber, and then the Cleveland Tourism song guy wrote a song dissing the show.

The Chuckster gets the last word as always. Even if saying “Cleveland makes Alabama look like New York” is a mild exaggeration. The Yellowhammer State isn’t nearly as cold as NYC.

After the Orlando Magic eliminate the Cavs in Game 6 the original Cleveland Tourism video is all the city will have left.

There are three great moments from this clip of TNT’s “Inside the NBA”. First off, EJ’s Neat-O Stat of the Night, which hardly ever has a sponsor and is a running joke of the show, has a sponsor. Secondly, the sponsor was Slam Online. Obviously the third is the Chuckster reading I’m a dumbass from the teleprompter. The no holds barred dialogue and the drop dead funny skits make “Inside the NBA” one of the best SHOWS on television.

The NBA on TNT crew decided to celebrate the birth of Kenny Smith’s son with a diaper changing contest between The Jet and Charles Barkley. The Baby Ruth surprise in Barkley’s baby’s diaper is nasty and hilarious… Reminding us why Sir Charles once said:

“Every time I think about changing a diaper, I run a little bit harder and a little bit faster to make sure I can afford a nanny until my daughter’s old enough to take care of that herself.”

Good thinkin’ Chuck. Cuz you look like you’re terrible at taking care of that. Props to whoever at TNT that’s been keeping up on their Caddyshack.

The NBA on TNT is one of the best shows on television. The chemistry between the crew of Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley is rare.. and great, but the show is at it’s best when Chuck is off the cuff. Kenny was out due to the birth of his child so C-Webb was on the set. The conversation started off with Kobe Bryant, his 15 technical fouls, and whether or not Kobe would get his 16th tech and the subsequent one game suspension. As he’s prone to do, Sir Charles ended up on a tangent and let us know that he wants to run over former ref Mike Mathis. Charles might’ve been kidding, but Mike Mathis should look both ways 4-5 times before he crosses the street.

CB: The officials got to give him some leeway. He’s the best player we got in the league. Referees gotta say unless Kobe does something to really embarrass me, I got to let it go.

CW: He doesn’t have the Charles Barkley pass though. This is real nice what he’s (Barkley) saying but Jordan would kinda talk to you and hold his jersey like that (covering mouth), and Charles would just talk about your mama, daddy, and dare the ref to give him a tech and he wouldn’t get a tech. So everybody doesn’t have that card in the back.

CB: That was just Mike Mathis. That was just Mike Mathis. Mike Mathis is the only official I ever really hated. If I saw him walking down the street right now I’d stomp my gas and run over him like a dog.

CW: Tell us your real feelings.

EJ: See I thought you had gotten over that, I thought you had gotten past that, I thought you had moved past that. This is the new Charles.?.

CB: I’ll move right past him with my feet stuck on the gas.

EJ: Charles, it’s just so distressing to hear that.

CB: And you know what I’d do too? I’d back up to make sure he was gone.

Frank Caliendo joined Charles, Kenny, and EJ on the TNT NBA post game show Thursday, to do some imitations, and he apparently has a new show that’s gonna air on TBS but it’s not getting a lot of promotion. Caliendo’s Chuckster is pretty damn good, and he’s always entertaining when he changes characters rapidly. As for Frank TV, if House of Payne is a hit for TBS, Caliendo should be able to pull his weight.
