In this interview Ron Artest covers several different topics and criticizes the state of Hip Hop.

Hip hop has been heavily watered down and knocked off course by the big money makers. There are many artists who are scared to make music for themselves and they cater to the boss with grey hair or light skin who never ever been caught in a cross fire, or been racially profiled, or cut in the face, or been face to face with multiple crack heads. The hip hop I’m accustomed to is Rakim. Rakim should be able to say what’s hip hop and what’s not. And give the other good music a different genre. Hip hop is also influenced by God, meaning artists like Run DMC and positive hip hop. I think gangster rap is a fake. I think it should be labeled pain music.

It is not hard to sell music. I think people who buy music are not stupid. When 50 put out “Curtis” he tried to fool people and his fans wanted that real 50. Same with Nas and “Nastradomus” and Jay with the “One” album he had that was unsuccessful. The A&R these days are not that good, with the exception of a few. People don’t want to hear lies, they want pure hearted music.

Ron makes some good points, and contradicts himself a little but that’s Ron. Enough of the talking, it’s time to hear what Artest is spittin’.

On the You Tube info section for this video the author says “I just wrote a song about my NFL team. That’s all.”, but that’s not all. He mentions his diamonds, his Maserati, his Lexus, his mom’s house, and “around” numerous times. I give him a C- for the overall project. I woulda gave him a C, but he said something about churning butter. If there was a battle between this video and this video, I’d have to go with the latter.

Props to Arrowhead Addict for getting the video from Tony’s Kansas City, and passing it on to me… Oh the shame… The art form that Jason Whitlock despises to get on t.v. has dropped a jewel for him… I think it’s fair to say that SBL won’t be hittin the strip clubs with Whitlock anytime soon.. What does any guy want after a hard day week at the office? A random You Tube chick singing about them of course. Unfortunately for the New York Mets, I don’t know if this song will be enough. The Phillies just completed a sweep of the Mets, trimming the division lead to 2, and now New York stumbles into Atlanta. The Braves have owned the Mets this season, leading the season series 8-4. Willie Randolph better get his troops out of this funk or the next chick on You Tube will weigh 450.

Ron Artest is classic. I do agree that Ben Wallace got the ball rolling that evening, BUT.. Ron saying he deserves a pass is hilarious. What’s next? Charles Manson saying “the incident” was taken out of context?

If you’re like me.. That sucks.. But it also means you can’t get enough Ron Artest…

Way back when Kobe wore number 8.. After seeing Otto flex his bilingual skills and playing the obligatory “rappin’ in a wifebeater” card, I don’t know why his album didn’t take off. He even got Tyra Banks on the track.. She only danced on stage because nothing says professional model and television host like backin your thang up at NBA All-Star weekend. I can’t wait to see Barbara Walters dancing for Ron Artest next year.
