Shaquille O’Neal is doing everything possible to keep himself in the news everyday until the 2009-10 NBA season begins. He tweeted up Kobe and the NBA Finals, he’s been mentioned in trade rumors, and now he claims he wants to fight 7-2 mixed-martial artist Hong Man Choi. The same Hong Man Choi that took out Jose Canseco. But as Shaq asks Does he look like Jose Canseco?

It’s all fun and games until Shaq actually gets in the ring or octagon. Choi does MMA for a living, not for attention. I’m betting Shaq doesn’t last much longer than Canseco did.

Mixed Martial Artist Rashad Evans is the latest person to be recruited by Microsoft to tell us they’re a PC. The move is an obvious attempt to appeal to the UFC crowd, and a little insurance in case the the PC-Mac war moves from the commercials to the streets. Evans could beat down John Hodgman and Justin Long with both of his eyes swollen shut and his arms tied behind his back.

Seth Petruzelli was an unknown mixed martial artist until he knocked out Kimbo Slice in 14 seconds in October. Petruzelli is still feelin’ himself after his surprising victory, so much so, that he dressed as Kimbo Slice for Halloween.

Before anyone gets pissed off about Seth Petruzelli being in blackface, chill out. He beat Kimbo Slice’s ass. He’s allowed to dress up like the man. Now this Chocolate Axe commercial is another story.

• Donald Trump and Affliction announce Fighting Fedor reality show

Rich guy and All-Star businessman Donald Trump is taking his interest in Affliction and the MMA to television. He hopes. Trump partnered with Affliction in June and it looks like he’s finally trying to use his influence to help out the company.

A contingent of officials from fight promotions M-1 Global and Affliction Entertainment, complete with Donald Trump as a front man, announced plans Thursday to move forward with their new mixed martial arts reality television show, Fighting Fedor.

The show will be filmed in St. Petersburg, Russia, at the Red Devil fight gym with a crew of fighters recruited from all over the globe. According to M-1 Global vice president Jerry Millen, the show could begin filming as early as April.

It looks like The Donald and co. have everything in order. Except for a television partner. There are plans to distribute Fighting Fedor in various international markets, and the hope is that Trump’s TV connections will land a good deal. This show will happen because Donald Trump’s involved.

Internet sensation Kimbo Slice was served his first Elite XC/MMA loss Saturday night via a technical knockout from the hands of Seth Petruzelli. The referee stopped the fight after 14 seconds with Slice lying on his back and bleeding over his left eye.

It’s a damn shame when the video is 35 times longer than the actual action. I don’t know what the loss says about Kimbo Slice. It could have just been a bad night, and he was caught off guard by Ken Shamrock getting scared injured at the last minute, or maybe he’s out of his league. We won’t know until after his next few fights.

I hope this puts an end to the “MMA is better than boxing” talk. In boxing there would’ve been a count, and from there who knows how it goes? Maybe Kimbo clears his head and we’re treated to a Hagler-Hearns thriller. Instead, a guy gets punched in the face for a few seconds and the fight ends. XCiting.

There has been talk of former Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson making a comeback in the ring or the octagon. He’s been spotted at gyms traning in what people believe is preparation for a fight. The talk is mostly rumors and wishful thinking by fight fans, but now Tyson has spoken and killed any thoughts of his return.

“No, I’m finished with fighting. I’m done,” he answered quickly.

Boxers seem like the athletes that have the hardest time letting go of the game. I hope Mike means it, but with his financial problems I wouldn’t rule out Tyson boxing Evander Holyfield, fighting Kimbo Slice, or wrestling an alligator. Everybody knows he would lose all three but people would still pay to watch.

EA Sports combined random fans, NFL stars, Kimbo Slice, and bagpipes playing Amazing Grace in this commercial for the 20th edition of Madden football. The game’s Tuesday release helped shares of EA jump 2.2%, and guaranteed that video game junkies will remain without girlfriends through the winter.

For some reason the people that pitch us shaving cream and razors think we need to see two athletes lathered up and having a good time in the bathroom for us to consider buying their product. But what about two men applying shaving cream to one another while handling razorblades is supposed to be appealing? I can’t be the only one that thinks there’s something weird about being crammed in a little bathroom with your homeboy breathing on your neck and checking you out in the mirror’s reflection.

It’s been reported by AOL Fanhouse and Sports by Brooks that CBS and EliteXC told Kimbo Slice he couldn’t the Reality Kings during his network television debut. A network that shows tons of boner pill and alcohol commercials isn’t down with people being directed to a porn site? That’s funny. Even funnier is that one of the sport’s biggest stars, Tito Ortiz, is dating Jenna Jameson. It looks like MMA and porn go hand in hand or something in something..

Kimbo Slice’s involvement with Reality Kings isn’t new. I found out about it by accident a while back. I got a call from a buddy one day, and he told me that somebody we use to work with is doing porn. I live in the valley so that’s like being told somebody you use to work with now works at the bank.. Then he sent me a link to a video. In the beginning of the vid, Kimbo and some other dudes are standing around in togas and then my former co-worker appears.

Kimbo Slice’s workout routine consists of bodyguarding porn shoots, sipping champagne, and tracking down the bomb azi. If he’s really partyin that hard, all of Bas Rutten’s knowledge and training isn’t gonna do Kimbo any good.

There’s bad news for anybody that was looking forward to Roy Jones Jr. boxing mixed martial artist Anderson Silva. UFC President Dana White says he will not grant permission for Silva to participate in the match if terms are reached. Since White is the Prez he has veto power over Silva’s dealings while Silva is under contract with the UFC.

I wish I could see Jones and Silva fight, but I also understand where Dana White’s coming from. The UFC and Silva have everything to lose and nothing to gain. If Anderson beats Roy, he beat a has been that’s past his prime. If Jones wins, then Silva lost to a has been that’s past his prime. He would pocket a fat paycheck but other than that it’s lose-lose for Silva.

For the last year and a half or so, fans of boxing and MMA have been going back and forth about which sport is better. The answer is clearly boxing, but instead of arguing the two sides should join forces. I’m talking about one event, pay-per-view or not, with boxing matches and MMA fights. I’m not sure how the organizers would put a ring and an octagon side by side, but if they can put monster trucks and dirt bike races inside buildings, then this small problem can be solved. The cost of a PPV would probably jump $25 or more though you’d have to admit a card with Mayweather-Cotto and Silva-Okami would be worth the price. This seems like an idea that Mark Cuban and his maverick ways could make happen.
