Fox announced on Friday that ‘Brothers‘ starring Michael Strahan will be picked up for 13 episodes by the network. The show will reportedly air Fridays in the Fall.

Fox on Friday picked up comedy “Brothers” to series with a 13 episode-order.

The pilot about the relationship between a retired NFL player (retired ball player Michael Strahan) and his wheelchair-bound brother (Darryl “Chill” Mitchell) was one of the last ones picked up by Fox. CCH Pounder also stars in the low-key comedy that received strong feedback during Fox’s pilot screenings last week.

You learn something new everyday. I assumed ‘Brothers’ chronicled the relationship between Strahan and Jay Glazer. Instead Michael stretches to play a retired football player.. And Carl Weathers plays his dad!! Fox is hoping this is one of the shows that carries the network through the fall. Good luck with that.

The New York Giants got the 2008 season underway by having Michael Strahan break out of a giant Lombardi trophy, and then beating the Washington Redskins 16-7. I wonder if the sound of the crowd cheering had Strahan reconsidering his retirement..

The Giants rode the emotion in the stadium to a quick lead over the Redskins, but they looked sloppy in the second half. The good news for the NY is that the defensive played well, the bad news is that the same defense led the league in sacks last season but only registered one in this game without Michael Strahan and Usi Umenyiora.

Michael Strahan shouldn’t be surprised that somebody would tattoo his autograph on their arm.. Strahan has the name of his ex-wife’s divorce lawyer tattooed to his ass.. I don’t have any ink, it’s not my thing. I can’t think of anything that I want written on my body for the rest of my life. If y’all wanna get dragons or tribal bands, go ahead. I’ll pass. I know a guy out here in LA that has Donovan McNabb’s autograph on his arm.. No joke. He sent pics of the tat to the Eagles and ended up getting tickets to a game in Philly. After hearing that, I considered getting Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals, NCAA Final Four, and Lauren London’s bedrooom tattooed at various places on my body.

After getting taken to the cleaners by his ex-wife in a divorce settlement, Michael Strahan isn’t the first person you think of when it comes to investing advice. #97 joined Jim Cramer on CNBC’s Mad Money last month to talk about football, investing, and his new book, Inside the Helmet: My Life as a Sunday Afternoon Warrior. The interview didn’t make me want to run out and buy the book, but the snippets that Cramer talked about were interesting.
Here are a few things that stuck out to me:

1. Michael Strahan had $3.3 mil in a checking account and got scammed for $1.6mil.
2. Michael Strahan doesn’t want to take a dollar and make a million dollars.
3. Michael Strahan owns one stock, and it’s Under Armour.

The best part of the interview is at the 3:20 mark of the video when Cramer is chumming it up with Strahan and doing some play fighting.

MS: Watch yourself now. I might have some flashbacks and then we’re in trouble.

JC: I’m good at cheapshot. I can do a cheapshot.

MS: All right Trent Green, watch yourself.

Strahan went on to say that he and Trent are good friends, and he was just joking, but I guarantee Travis Johnson jumped out of his seat and yelled “Preach Brotha Strahan“.

There wasn’t a doubt in my mind that Michael Strahan was trying to get a few extra bucks from the Giants since the ex-wife got him for 15mil. I thought he was right for doing it. It never hurts to try. I quickly turned on Strahan when training camp rolled around and he didn’t show up. My line of thought was he tried to get the money, it didn’t work, go to camp… When he didn’t show I read it as a money struggle… And it still could be, but #92′s statement did a good job of convincing me that this really isn’t about the money. I probably got Jedi mind tricked by Strahan’s PR staff but I no longer think it’s about the money. Michael just doesn’t feel like going to Coughlin’s  training camp.

This off season has been one of the best in my professional career. I have worked extremely hard to make sure that I’m in shape and ready to tackle the rigors of another physical season. I am proud to say that at my body feels years younger and ready to compete at the highest level. I love training and preparation, and this off season has made it clear to me that this is one aspect of the game that I will miss tremendously when I decide to one day unstrap the helmet for the last time.

When I translate that I get “Look, I’m ready to go, I’m in shape. I been doing this for 15 years, I don’t need this training camp bs.” Plenty of vets have felt this way, and have had similar “holdouts” to avoid training camp. Strahan also had a message for those of you (me) that thought he was all about the Benjamins:

Despite what some might believe there are those of us who make decisions that have nothing to do with money. Many athletes ask themselves daily if they are emotionally and psychologically at the level where they can compete at the highest level for twenty-four weeks. For them also it isn’t about the money, rather a serious athlete asking serious questions about his future. All that I ask, after fourteen seasons, is that you afford me the patience so that I might arrive at my decision on my own terms.

Yeah, you can call me a sucker or whatever, but I don’t think Michael is doing this for the cash. Don’t get me wrong, he could use a few extra bucks and he’ll probably go back to training musicians on the side.
