Wanda Bell thinks J.R. Smith hasn’t learned following the 2007 car accident he was responsible for that left Andre Bell, Wanda’s son, dead. Wanda is going forward with a civil suit to make sure Smith gets the point that there’s a price to pay for causing the loss of human life.

Wanda Bell is now continuing a civil suit against the basketball star because Smith has not reformed his dangerous driving habits, which she contends caused the death of her 21-year-old son, Andre Bell, on June 9, 2007, her attorney said.

Smith appeared to be remorseful after the accident, even publicly vowing to improve his driving skills. But between the time of the accident and March 2008, Smith, who already had numerous speeding violations and license suspensions, had accumulated two more speeding tickets. And by October 2008 his license had been suspended three more times.

J.R.’s in the wrong but what I don’t understand is how his license was suspended three times in a year and some change. Are they only suspending it a week at a time? If he’s out there reckless (and already caused one death) his license should’ve been suspended two years minimum.

The sale price for the 28,000-square-foot estate at 3385 Old Keystone Road had been listed at $19.9 million. The facilities, built in 2003, include a swimming pool and spa, a guest house and private tennis courts. The home has three floors and includes a game room, cigar room, theater, sauna room, cabana room and library.The home was to come furnished, according to the lawsuit. Its master bedroom, for example, had a council table, a sofa, a coffee table, four chairs, three end tables, a sofa bench and a bed. Its game room had two pool tables, three pub tables and 30 leather bar stools.

Matt Geiger has decided to lower the price of the property to $16.9 million, but it comes unfurnished so you won’t inherit any of Geiger’s furniture.

Matt Geiger is a real estate investor in his post basketball life, but I don’t think he’s pulling down the kind of money to live in a $16-$21 million crib. This is Matt Geiger not Shaq. His biggest contract in the NBA was a six year $48 million dollar deal he signed with Philadelphia, but never finished due to knee problems. Even if he got all of the money, taxes and various expenses ate up over half of it. Since Matt’s older now and doesn’t feel the need to impress people with the size of his toys, downsizing seems like a good idea.

If you owe the Wynn Las Vegas money you should go ahead and pay up before they take you to court. The casino that filed a lawsuit against Charles Barkley last month for an unpaid $400,000 gambling debt is now suing the NBA and Alonzo Mourning.

Wynn Las Vegas claims NBA Entertainment, NBA Properties and co-defendant Alonzo Mourning Charities have failed to pay a $50,000 bill for convention and meeting space and related services used during the 2007 NBA All-Star weekend.

It’s probably an oversight on the league’s and Zo’s part but still, they better straighten this out before the Wynn says forget the lawyers and sends out their “collection team”. I’d hate to hear about David Stern and Alonzo Mourning last being seen driven into a cornfield.

Venus and Serena Williams are caught up in some sort of contractual legal mess about somebody signing or not signing some documents. All I can tell from the video is that Richard Williams was trying to channel his inner John McEnroe, and he was taught to tell the truth. The judge, who stays aggy, was on the verge of throwing R-Dub in the clink. My favorite part of the video took place right after Mr. Williams banged on the judge’s desk:

Judge: Mr. Williams, please don’t put me in an awkward circumstance.
RW: Don’t put me in one either.

That was about the time the court deputy started to move towards Richard Williams.. I thought it was about to go down.. Luckily for pops, Serena was there to save him from a contempt of court charge at the minimum, and a court ordered videotaped beatdown in the worst case scenario.

Pictures taken by experts hired by the NBA’s four-time leading scorer show a series of horizontal and vertical cracks in brickwork on the outside of the house. Inside, the house has been plagued with settling as well as wide gaps in doorways, oak floorboards that have separated and floor-to-ceiling cracks in walls.

Experts hired by the Iversons reported that the trusses in the floor system at the center of the home weren’t built to handle all the weight above, causing the house to sag dramatically.

Keep in mind that this is a brand new house, and Allen is the first owner. As you can imagine, A.I. is taking the home builders to court.

Iverson has hired Atlanta lawyer Kurt Hilbert and filed suit against the builder, seeking more than $6.2 million in damages. Iverson wants to force the builder to refund the purchase price of $2.2 million and to pay the family for relocation expenses, custom-built furnishings and other damages.

The builders of Iverson’s decrepit crib, Order Homes of Atlanta, have stated that they’ve built over 300 homes and they’ve never been sued. Order Homes offered to take care of all of the damage to the house, but the Iversons and their lawyers are only willing to accept a financial settlement.

If the owners of Order Homes were smart, they would do like Matt Geiger did. Buy the house from Iverson, and then collect all of the left behind Benzes, Timberlands, and cash.
