Canseco took on Korea’s 7-2 Hong Man Choi, and the expected result comes at 1:16 into the fight.

Nice job Jose.. I’ll gotta give him credit though. He lasted longer than I thought. Canseco’s lucky that Choi didn’t do him like he did the guy in this video. Tune in next week to watch Jose fight an alligator and bear simultaneously.

The Tongan Terror scored a TKO if you’re being technical, but that doesn’t change anything. It’s time for Jose Canseco to go ahead and pack it in after getting knocked out by Vai Sikahema. Canseco talked a gang of shit before the fight, and backed it up by getting knocked down a couple of times. It’s doubtful that he landed a punch.

I am sure that 99% of the country (mostly A-Rod and his flings) wanted Sikahema to beat the crap out of Jose, but did he have to do it so quickly? Vai could tell from the jump that he was gonna dominate tomato Canseco so he should’ve punished him for a while instead of dropping him in the first round. Hopefully Vai Sikahema knocked Jose Canseco out of the public eye for good.

It looks like Jose Canseco is turning to the poker tables in hopes of turning around his recent financial troubles. Knowing Jose, and knowing the way Jose plays poker, I’m willing to bet that Canseco has a better chance of pounding out 10 more books than making any money playing cards. The oddsmakers agree.

The folks at BoDog, who will set a line on anything, have posted odds on which celebrity will win the most money at the July 3, 2008 WSOP event.

Jose Canseco has grown accustom to watching his best laid plans go up in smoke. He took steroids to become a superhuman baseball player, but ended up a big joke. He wrote “Juiced” with hopes of hurting Major League Baseball, but has seen the sport thrive despite all of the steroid talk. This time around, Jose’s book “Vindicated” could lead to him being indicted.

Federal investigators met with Jose in Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago to talk about current and former ballplayer’s use of performance enhancing drugs. While Canseco thought he would only be snitching on others, the investigators had a few questions for Jose about Jose.

They asked him about a number of current and former major leaguers, including Alex Rodriguez, and their possible connection to performance-enhancing drugs. They also asked Canseco whether he sought money from various players before the release of his latest book.

Jose Canseco’s lawyer, Greg S. Emerson, knew this was a bad sign for his client.

He said he became troubled when Novitzky said he had heard that Canseco had approached a number of major leaguers about investing in a movie project even as Canseco was working on his second book about baseball and performance-enhancing drugs, titled “Vindicated.”

Emerson went on to say he’s afraid that the investigators are shooting the messenger. I’d say they’re getting it right. Jose Canseco shed a lot of light on the steroid situation, but that doesn’t him the right to turn into a shakedown artist. And considering the amount of steroids Jose brought to the game, a federal charge of some sort seems fair.

Jose Canseco isn’t the most credible man in the world but, love him or hate him you have to admit he’s a necessary evil of the steroid era. He might not have done it with the right intentions in mind but Jose’s book “Juiced” helped get the anti-steroid ball rolling. Canseco’s new book, Vindicated, spills more dirt although the information seems less reliable this time around.

Jose writes about people that he unsuccessfully tried to blackmail, and reminisces about the good ole days of being a washed up 38-year-old ballplayer that’s trying to catch on with the Los Angeles Dodgers.. At an open tryout. Jose remembers the day well..

“I was so desperate to get back in the game, in fact, that I did an open tryout for the L.A. Dodgers, a team that was in miserable shape back then. I ran well, I threw well, and I hit well, but they still didn’t want me.”

Newspaper reports from that fateful day paint a different picture.From the L.A. Daily News:

We retrieved the Daily News account of what happened that day at Vero Beach, Fla. Staff writer Rich Hammond wrote that Canseco “flubbed groundballs and flailed at offspeed pitches.” He documented that “in a timed sprint at the start of the workout, Canseco started a half-second early, then refused a request to run again. As his colleagues lined up to field grounders at shortstop, Canseco walked to the dugout and didn’t participate in the drill. In 18 batting-practice swings, Canseco hit one home run and four balls to the warning track, then went 2 for 5 with two singles, a walk and two strikeouts in a game among the tryout participants. He played an awkward first base during the game.”

I don’t know what it is but for some reason the newspaper’s account seems more like what happened.. Could it be because it’s the truth? Do PEDs affect the memory? That would explain Jose mistaking the play described above for hitting, running, and throwing well. It would also explain why Andy Pettitte misremembers details about Roger Clemens.

Jose Canseco was a freak of nature back in the day. We know why now, but watching Canseco set baseball on fire was amazing. In 1988 Jose Canseco became the first player to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in a season. He was a lock for the Hall of Fame.. Until Superman turned into Wile E. Coyote.

I don’t know Jose’s financial situation, but judging from the long list of schemes on his resume, it can’t be good. Jose Canseco has attempted to sell himself for personal appearances (which ended up being fake), extort money from Magglio Ordonez , and now he’s trying to sell supplements.

I’m not sure when the product will be available, but the website hasn’t been built yet. Even though Canseco’s book Juiced helped get the anti-steroid ball rolling in baseball, nobody takes Jose seriously. This isn’t going to help his cause. One day Jose has “information” on Alex Rodriguez, the next he’s trying to move testosterone amplifier. The bottom line is Jose Canseco will do or say whatever he thinks will make him a dollar.

Back in the day.. Before Alex Rodriguez fired Scott Boras, before Alex Rodriguez opted out of his Yankees contract during the World Series, before Jose Canseco said he had steroid related dirt on A-Rod, before Alex was seen with the chick with the tig ‘o bitties, and before Alex was beefin with Jeter, Super Agent Scott Boras helped Alex Rodriguez sign a $252 million dollar contract with the Texas Rangers.

How did Boras do it?I don’t know.. But I do know one of the tactics that Boras used. He, well his staff at the Scott Boras Corporation, put together a sharp blue binder full of Alex Rodriguez stats and mailed it to every team in MLB. The book is full of statistical breakdowns and projections for A-Rod against current (2000) and former ball players.

There are pages and pages like this, mixed in with quotes from guys like Larry Bowa and Dusty Baker. All of it was done to celebrate the greatness that is Alex Rodriguez. Funny how times change.. Fast forward 7 years, Alex has a bigger contract but Boras almost blew it, and now they don’t speak.
